In 2025 SolarKapital has been in existence for 15 years. During this period, the company managed steady growth coupled with above average profitability. Yet, the strongest growth in the company’s history was achieved within the last 12 months, during which the business volume has more than doubled.

Currently, the Group consists of seven investment companies based in Germany, two of which were established only in 2024. Expansion will continue in the years to come, especially in Germany and Greece. Total annual revenues from selling energy are supposed to reach € 10m.  Business activities continue to focus exclusively on the solar sector and the generation of solar energy in Germany, Greece and France. The Group's team now consists of 24 people, 13 of whom are based in Greece. The Group currently produces around 35,000 MWh of electricity on an annual basis (enough to supply more than 15,000 households). The entire portfolio consists of approx. 70 PV plants with a nominal capacity of over 30 MWp The cumulative investment volume amounts to around € 50 million. The annual revenue volume from electricity sales currently amounts to € 8.5 million.

In addition to generating electricity from existing plants, SolarKapital has also been developing new PV plants for some time now. To date, a total of around 110 hectares of land has been secured at eleven locations. Furthermore, five utility scale battery sites are currently under development.
The aim is to expand the portfolio to 100 PV plants to secure further synergy effects and to convert the core competence - professional acquisition and value-creating operation of solar plants - into above-average returns for investors.

    Germany

As the German solar market continued to normalize and streamline in 2023/2024, increasingly attractive investment opportunities have been identified. In order to participate in these opportunities together with investors, the "Lumen" investment initiative was launched in mid-2024. The aim of Lumen is to purchase already operating PV plants with guaranteed remuneration (EEG) in Germany. The first purchase agreements for the acquisition of two PV plants, each with around 1 MWp of nominal capacity and a total transaction value of € 2.5 million, were signed in August 2024. Towards the end of 2024, one more transaction with a capacity of 0.44 MWp and a transaction value of € 0.5 million was successfully concluded.

After intensive examination and negotiations over large parts of the second half of 2024, the purchase agreement for the acquisition of an extensive portfolio consisting of 11 PV plants with a total capacity of 10.4 MWp and a transaction value of € 7.5m was finally concluded in January 2025. The German team, currently consisting of 11 members - Sebastian Leonhard acting as an authorized signatory since the end of 2024 - managed to fully implement Lumen within a short period of time. The total plant capacity managed in Germany currently amounts to around 19 MWp.

At the same time, further areas for the development of new ground-mounted PV systems on freeways and railway lines were secured in the company’s key market of Saxony-Anhalt. Lease agreements were concluded with the Protestant regional church and a large chemical company, among others, and applications for building permits and grid connections were submitted.  A total of around 58 hectares was secured, with an expected PV volume of approx. 61 MWp.  At the same time, various areas for potential locations for utility scale batteries (> 20 MW) were examined and grid availability was inquired. With positive grid statement, building permits can be obtained within six months at most for carefully selected commercial and industrial sites. Other sites have already been identified and are at an advanced stage of preparation.

    Greece

In Greece, SolarKapital remains consistent to its expansion plan. By the end of 2023 funds raised in the context of the “Socrates” investment initiative were fully placed through the acquisition of 21 PV plants. In 2024, 12 more PV plants were acquired as part of the “Platon” investment initiative. Additional acquisitions are planned in order to complete the Platon investment initiative. The total investment volume is then expected to amount to € 25 million.

The SolarKapital Group currently operates 44 PV plants in Greece with a total installed capacity of 9.5 MWp. In 2025, the entire portfolio is expected to produce 15,700 MWh. Revenue from electricity sales based on feed-in contracts analogous to the German EEG will then amount to around € 4.3m.

The considerable portfolio expansion was accompanied by the growth of the SolarKapital team in Greece. The latter currently comprises 13 members under the leadership of Constantinos Sioumis. In addition to the technical and commercial management of the SolarKapital portfolio, more than 100 PV plants owned by third parties are also under management, mostly by use of proprietary resources. Development efforts for utility scale battery systems are underway in Greece as well.

    France

As one of the SolarKapital Group's first PV plants, the 2.2 MWp ground-mounted installation on the island of Corsica has now been producing for 14 years. The amount of electricity is relatively constant at a high level and amounts to around 3,000 MWh per year, generating revenues of around € 1.3m per year. When the investment was implemented, the transaction value was around € 10m - and is currently one of the Group's most successful investments.

In line with the efforts in Germany, additional sites were also secured in France - for example in Alsace and near Bordeaux - and initial development steps were taken in the area of building permits and grid connection. In total, there are six sites with a nominal capacity of around 50 MWp. Further sites are currently being examined.
